As a post doc within the BIOCONSUS project, I am working with indirect effects by large predators on their prey species. I have been in Białowieża since July 2012 working together with Krzysztof Schmidt and Dries Kuijper. We are investigating the effect of predator odour on the behaviour of different prey species.

My previous research has mainly focused on large predators and their effects on other species. During my PhD I studied how the re-colonization of wolves at the Scandinavian Peninsula affects prey behaviour and competitors (both other predators and humans). In addition, I investigated how presence of wolves influences biomass flow from moose carcasses and how this in turn affects scavenging species. Other finished research projects of mine concerns predator-prey interactions with special interest in factors influencing kill rate, compensatory mortality and predator hunting behaviour.
