PhD Szilvia Kusza

Currently I am a research fellow at the University of Debrecen, Centre for Agricultural and Applied Economic Sciences in Hungary. Broadly my main research interest is molecular biology of domestic animal species, especially focus on conservation of indigenous breeds. During my PhD fellowship I worked in genetic susceptibility of CAE disease resistance in goat, genetic polymorphisms of milk protein genes in goat and sheep, genetic diversity study of sheep, turkey and gene expression of MHC Ib in pig. After my PhD degree, I continued my research in identification of polymorphisms and their effect on production traits, phenotypes in different breeds, species and I also have genetic diversity studies in horse, honeybee. Besides my research work I am three PhD students’ supervisor or co-supervisor.
The reasons for my interest for position in BIOCONSUS project was that I wanted to extend my technical and theoretical knowledge in field of wild animals and also to improve my experience in conservation/population genetics in Poland.
